Dear Pasadena Neighbor,
Since we resurrected the Greater Pasadena Council last summer, we have had a number of successes. Just a few:
* We held a candidates’ forum which was attended by about 150 voters plus all 14 candidates that we invited.
* We were part of the effort to convince the Maryland Port Authority to suspend its plan to dump dredge material from the Baltimore shipping channels next to Stoney Creek.
* We invited State Highway Administration staff to speak at one of our meetings. Just before that meeting, SHA workers picked up the trash around MD 100 interchanges in Pasadena, one of our complaints.
* Because of GPC efforts, the County has rejuvenated its Duvall Highway projects to complete the sidewalk from Outing Avenue and Fort Smallwood Road.
* We had a greater influence in minimizing population density in the long range plan for Region 4 that includes Arnold, Severna Park, and Pasadena.
Thus, we believe that we have fulfilled our goal of “magnifying your voice.” However, we have been disappointed in the overall participation of Pasadena residents in these efforts above as well as potential future efforts such as (double click on images to enlarge):
* Meeting with candidates running next fall for the Pasadena seat on the Board of Education.
* Significantly upgrading Mountain Road, the main street of Pasadena. The State and County have dropped further development of this project due to lack of interest by our community.
* Improving the test results for our two school clusters. Of our County’s 13 high schools, Chesapeake is fifth and Northeast is 8th.

* Reducing the major polluters that are just upstream from Pasadena as shown in this map. Baltimore City’s poorly maintained Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant is in red, the State’s Hawkins Point Controlled Hazardous Substance Landfill is shown in orange, and the possible Maryland Port Authority’s Cox Creek Confined Aquatic Dispoal site for dredging material is in yellow.
Regrettably, we are suspending further Greater Pasadena meetings until further notice. If you are interested in a particular Pasadena issue, please reach out to us. Perhaps we can mutually help to make Pasadena a better community. Thank you,
